Living Potential – Therapeutic Community Garden

Living Potential work with adults and young people across North & West Yorkshire with mental health support needs, neurodiversity, or who are experiencing loneliness or isolation. Read more to find out how to get involved

We believe that being productive, in nature, can be a powerful alternative (or accompaniment) to talking therapy. Although we do not provide specific mental health support, the work that we do promotes recovery and wellbeing through physical activity and teamwork. The 500-acre farm is an immensely peaceful, therapeutic setting. Working outside, in nature, is proven to reduce anxiety and depression and increase happiness and well-being.

The Horticulture work includes:
Shaping the garden plans
Preparing the land and sowing seeds
Propagating, transplanting and caring for plants
Picking and preparing plants for sale, along with customer service
The site is planned as a commercial business: growing fruit and vegetables
to be sold to families and local businesses or given to those in need.

We accept self-referrals, as well as referrals from health / social care providers.
